There could cohtrol a variety of reasons why the remote control is not functioning properly. The wrong battery or cleaning the remote with solvent could cause permanent damage to the remote, or you may be using the remote from too far away or at too wide an angle. Video of the Day Step Change the Vizio remote batteries. To insert, turn the remote over and push in on the battery cover to release it. Then slide the battery holder out of the remote. Then slide the holder back in the remote. Step Remove all objects between the remote control and the receiver on the Vizio sound bar. Objects will interfere with the remote's signal. Step Change the remote to control the volume of the sound bar instead of the television. The volume of the sound bar is now Prohram with bat remote. Step Wipe the Vizio remote clean using a damp rag.
